My Dad used to work on the KCPD Crime Scene Unit as a evidence tech from the late 1970's until he retired  in 1990. After he retired, I would go visit him at his home when he then moved to in Springfield MO. He used to  tell me about the old cases he used to work on, and the one that really always stuck with me was the Bob Berdella case. He told me that even though the KCPD never would publically admit that hte Berdella muders weren't driven by occultic practices, my dad told me differently. He told me that one of the first things he photographed while helping collect the evidence for this case he (my dad) said that there was a "altar" in the attic of the Berdella house. He told me that he remembered that there was a creepy eerie feeling that came over him while he was upstairs with this altar as he took pictures of it, and he said he had the urge to get out of the room with the altar that was in the attic. He said he hurried and got the pictures and quickly walked out of the room. he at first dismissed these feelings as the "creeps", but after talking to the other techs that had seen this altar, he told me that they had said the same thing. My Dad also told me that there was a entry in Berdella's diary that he( Berdella) had hung a man upside down by his feet, and placed a bucket under the man's head and cut his throat little by little and he(my dad) said that he (Berdella) had timed just how long it took for this man to bleed to death into this bucket. My dad had worked on many infamous cases for the KCPD burt this was by far the most infamous and evil cases that he had worked on and was a part of. Jason Smith

Back in '80-'85 I was a small-town English teacher at a high school a couple hours from K.C., and, weekends, I'd regularly hook up with my pal from hometown days who by then lived two blocks north of Westport.  Zany good fun, those brisk walks or drunken drives, leading us onward to a small cornucopia of used book- and record stores plus Penny Lane and Kelly's.  And this is not an "after the fact" remembrance: the several times we chanced into Berdella's shop--generally after parking and breezing our way through it toward other venues--there definitely was....something....about....Bob.  And not a good something.  He'd be sat behind a counter whilst we sometimes perused (briskly) his offerings, lots of stuff I liked, yes, but the atmosphere of his shop--and his brooding presence--was such that I never bought a thing, just generally said hi to the guy who loomed in his own shadow, watching us silently.  When the end came and Berdella's image dominated the K.C. Times & Star, neither of us were a bit surprised that the guy--it's hard to pin down just what it was about him; I may have spent fifteen minutes, tops, in his presence--almost broadcast the inevitable ending he would make of it.  And it wasn't merely that Berdella was less than sunny on account of our no-purchases penury; no, one got the feeling, upon walking into his shop, that a depressing miasma hung like a shroud over the place and, sitting at its center, was a touch of a darkness and of local color: Bob Berdella.

Robert Berdella was a strange man indeed. As with the other person posting I also had my moment in time when I encountered this man.I lived in the area where Bob frequented and also stopped in his shop to look around a couple of times. I purchased a couple of small unique items I no longer have but was also aware of how he watched me carfeully while in his shop and it almost felt as if he was studying me. That was in the early part of 1983. Later that year I met another shop owner who owned a shop at the intersection of Westport Road and Main Street. I contracted with him to paint a sign for his business and noticed Bob had stopped in a couple of occasions while I was there. The owner of the shop was the father of one of Bobs victims. I met the victim and was talking with him the day he disappeared. He was intersted in Art and was watching me paint his fathers sign. I learned he had plans that evening to go to a Van Halen concert but as we all later found out it was not actually what he did that evening.  He ventured down to the bus depot in downtown K.C. and met Bob there and agreed to return with Bob to his house for some extra money. He never survived. Bob killed him. I remember a week or so later after I had finished his fathers sign a short convo I had with his father in front of the drugstore at Westport Road & Main streets. He informed me his son had been missing for a week or so and suspected Bob was behind it.This convo occured almost 5 years before Bob was caught in 1988. The father even mentioned looking through Bob's trash for clues and that really hit me hard when I learned of his sons fate 5 years later.he was a couple of days too late as Bob admitted to having dissected the young man and sisposing of his body in garbage bags he put out on the curb. Bob did not receive the justice he deserved. He should have been tortured in the same manner he torured others. He was a monster and took a very good kids life as well as I am sure others.
You can glorify this person in your macabre way all you wish but this man cannot be idolized for the pain and suffering he caused others. May he rot in hell for eternity for taking the lives of these young men and the mental anguish he caused so many others. I only hope that who ever profits from this project takes it into their heart to do some good with the earnings in Bobs victims memory. I wish to remain anonymous as well as the family I discussed in this posting.

This movie is terrible. Who are the little losers behind this piece of shit movie. I 've heard nothing but bad things regarding the movie. Heard the acting is terrrible, I heard the set design is beyond amatuer, But most worst rumor I hear is the script similar to something that a 3rd grader could write. I suggest not releasing this movie for your own behalf. that is unless you want to be the laughing stock of kansas city. Bill and Paul South? WHO THE FUCK ARE YOU?

I am married to one of the people berdella held in his house after allowing him to shovel his dog pens for money.I am not proud to say that my husband just a friend at the time was a teen drug addict drawn in by anyone that would help because he had no parental supervision since about age eight.Anyone that thinks this story is a bunch of crap may want to do a little research. It was very real and my husband still has nightmares about his experience there. He was only lucky enough to survive because Berdella was using him as bait to try and find his older brother. As for the officer that said the attick was full of evil and he had to get out of there my husband was held in that room with two chows trained to attack anyone trying to leave that room.He said he spent the entire time there on his knees praying until Berdella decided to let him out we think to follow him hoping to find his brother but he never went back.

I used to work on Truman Road at a auto machine shop called Sterling Bearing in 1988. One of my co-workers was named "Tim" from Wyoming I belive and he used to live and hang out in the Westport area. I saw the news coverage about Bob on TV one eveing and the next day I made a joke to Tim and said, "Hey Tim I see your buddy Bob Berdlla got caught tieing up fags in his house and torturing them." Tim just sort of looked at me funny and said, "What? did you know him too?" I said no I am just pulling your leg, do you know him. He said, "Yeah I know him, I have been to his store and I have been in his house." I just laughed and told him he was lucky he got out of his house alive! I had driven by Bob's Bizaare Bizaare before and he had a human skull in the window.
